At the San Diego zoo

It took us some time to decide whether or not we wanted to spend the day at the zoo. There was no kid in our group, but since we were a group, every decision was hard to make. Eventually we went to the zoo in San Diego on a rainy and grey day – what else could we do, surf? Ah, ah. No. The park was huge, if we had felt lazy we could even have taken a bus to take us around. The most impressive thing was the variety of animals. Some of them are really cute, and they are the real stars of the zoo – koala and panda, to name the most famous. But unfortunately, others animals live in a tiny cage and don’t look so happy. That’s the ambiguous status of every zoo I guess. Manu took some pictures during that day of the cutest ones.

Tigre - Zoo de San Diego

Tiger, tiger, burning bright in the forests of the night (probably the only poem I know in English, and I don’t remember the rest, but it looked cool to my friends to say that)

Orang outan - Zoo de San Diego

I love monkeys. They look like humans. This orangutan made me think of a quiet buddha.

Bonobo - Zoo de San Diego

This bonobo looked at us, laid on his belly, dig his finger in his derriere and took it out with… shit on it. Yep. That’s what you can see on top of his finger. What a fun pal.

Gorille - Zoo de San Diego

There’s a famous song in French about a gorilla escaping from a zoo. Ask a French friend to sing it for you. It’s fun.

Perroquet - Zoo de San Diego Grizzli - zoo de San Diego

15 national parks and no grizzli. One zoo, 2 grizzlis.

Girafe - Zoo de San Diego Kangooroo - Zoo de San Diego Flamant rose - Zoo de San Diego Small cat - zoo de san diego

Miaow

Surricate - Zoo de San Diego

Suricate don’t always stand on their feet. Disappointment.

Lama - Zoo de San Diego Tapir - Zoo de San Diego

This weird animal is a capybara, the biggest rodent in the world, a kind of big guinea pig.Elephant - Zoo de San Diego

Elephant 1 - Zoo de San Diego Giant panda - zoo de san diego Red Panda - San Diego Zoo

This was my favorite, they won my “cute prize”. Red pandas ! I just want to cuddle them. FYI, like the usual giant black and white panda, they eat mostly bamboo.

Les zèbres - Zoo de San Diego L'ours polaire - Zoo de San Diego

This huge polar bear is eating a carrot. Come on bear! that’s not frightening!
