Meet Corina // Dancer, Californian Girl and yoga teacher to be

I had great comments about the interviews I posted at the end of August, so I decided to keep going once in a while to introduce you to a blog I’m currently following. Today it’s my friend Corina’s blog I’d like to share with you. I met Corina a few weeks only after being  here in Boston. It was on a dark and crowded bar, we talked about travels and yoga, and despite some obvious language issues – at first, we get along pretty well! We have shared interests, and Corina, as an Californian girl, is super cool. She has recently launched a blog to talk about her experience as a future yoga teacher. Let’s meet her…

Can you introduce yourself ? My name is Corina. I am a dancer and computer programmer turned Yogi currently living in the Boston area, a long way away from the sunny city of Los Angeles where I was born and raised.

What’s your blog about? I practice a lot of Yoga, so my blog serves as a way for me to publicly archive my experiences exploring what it means to be a Western practitioner of Yoga and share what’s on my mind when I’m not on my mat.

When did you arrive in Boston, and for how long will you stay there? I arrived here in the Fall of 2011 and plan to be here for another couple of years or so depending on what life brings my way.

What’s your favorite place in Boston? I really love the North End because it such an old and historic part of the city with its cobblestone streets and Italian village-style brownstone buildings. There is a remnant of real Italian culture and food that still exists there. Some of the best Italian food I have had outside of Italy was at restaurants in the North End!

What’s your favorite place in the USA? Being the California girl that I am, I really love Southern California beaches, particularly Venice Beach. I grew up spending a lot of time there. It’s not the cleanest of beaches but it has real character. It’s an eclectic hub of artists, musicians, health nuts, fitness freaks, street culture and just all-around creative people, and it is also home to some of the most cutting edge sustainable housing design in that region of the state.

Where would you like to live? In my opinion, there really is no other state in the U.S. that offers such an amazing balance of climate and agricultural landscape like California, and I am not just saying that because I grew up there! California will always be my first choice, but given that the Italian landscape and climate is very similar to California, I would love to live in Italy. I had an amazing experience when I visited there and I adore the culture, food and lust for life adopted by the Italian people. Japan is another place I have visited where I felt I could actually live. The people are kind, the food is epic, and I love Japan’s creative ability to bridge design, function, and simplicity into a single harmonious aesthetic

Have you ever visited France? Yes! When I was a teenager living in London for a month, I went to Paris on “holiday” for a weekend. I thought it was beautiful but I just wish I had more than a weekend to explore the city. I really want to go back to visit someday.

Thanks to Corina for her anwsers!
