I’ve been looking for a job // Part 1

From procrastination to motivation. When I was in Paris, working was like a second nature for me. But after these past 7 months as an expat, I’ve lost quite easily the habit of working. I wonder how I could go every day to my job. I’m so used to this new life, busy in its own way with tons of hobbies. But I have to be serious, and so one day I’ve started to look for a job. When the idea of leaving France for the United States became true, I had a really hard time to realize that I would had to quit my job. I loved it, and I was afraid to quit it and most of all, I was afraid of not finding anything to do. But well, I didn’t want to lose this opportunity of living in the United States, so I quit. And then everything went so fast, I was already at the Boston airport at the beginning of January, freezing and with two pieces of luggage. And my fresh new husband.

Before leaving, Manu was unemployed – transition from 2 jobs. He loved it, played tennis and cooked. It was also very nice for me. Looking at him so happy with this life, I thought I could do the same and enjoyed this life without a job. I started yoga almost every day, wrote for the blog, found a conversation partner to improve my English. And I even start teaching French to kids. Sometimes I was wondering: “what I’ll write on my resume”? And also, my ego was a bit hurt when somebody asked me what I was doing in life. I didn’t really know what to say.

I’ve watched all the seasons of True Blood. What’s next?

At the end of May, I got my authorization of work. I was glad about it, but in the same time I thought that this time of vacation was over. I started to rewrite my resume, I took a lot of time trying to do this simple sheet…

Clueless - Cher's penDo I use blue or black ink?

I was exhausted, I’d sent no more than 4 emails. I was sure it wouldn’t have worked anyway. But then, a few days later, I had a response for one of the company I’ve contacted. I was completely enthusiast! And I already pictured myself going to work there, with my new BFF-colleagues, and spend all my income in new shoes.

But before anything else, I had to do something quite challenging. I had to do an interview. In English. By phone.
